Network aspects of virtualized small cells

This document explores network impacts associated with virtualization of small cell base stations. The approach is to evolve the NFV concepts that have been used to propose a virtualized small cell core network defined in SCF154: ‘Virtualization in Small Cell networks’ and apply those concepts to virtualization of the small cell base station functions. Only 4G (LTE) small cell base stations are considered.
