Deploying small cells in private buildings for the enterprise needs alternative models for ownership and operation. MNOs with a legacy of selling subscriptions to consumers – or bundles to corporate customers – need to find ways to engage with neutral hosts and other third parties who can help address a rapidly expanding market for cellular connectivity. Currentlyr, enterprise needs for indoor coverage are at odds with operator goals. New business models are required. We examine what those business models should do, which parties they should involve and the promise of small cells for the enterprise in the 5G Era.
